Willis Commercial were delighted to have been entrusted with securing a strong replacement tenant for 1 Westover Road, Bournemouth which was for many years occupied by Austin Reed.

The character Grade 11 listed property has been let to Côte Brasserie.

Côte is inspired by the brasseries of Paris, championing relaxed all-day dining and serving authentic French classics made from great quality, fresh ingredients.

The company opened its first restaurant in Wimbledon Village in 2007 and has since grown to offer around 90 branches across the UK.

Quba Sails Into Wimborne

Willis Commercial are pleased to have assisted another quality retailer in their search for suitable premises in Wimborne Minster.

This time it is Quba Sails Limited trading as Quba and Co who have chosen Wimborne as a desirable town to trade adding to the many good quality operators who have made the same decision over the last 10 or so years.

Founded in 1996 in Salcombe, Devon, Quba Sails specialises in jackets created from reclaimed canvas sailcloth. Quba has extended its offering over the years to produce a wide range of nautical-inspired clothing and accessories for both men and women, alongside its custom handmade-to-order jackets, holdalls and home furnishings.

Café Aroma take Prime Wimborne Spot

Willis Commercial have sold the leasehold interest in 12 The Square, Wimborne.

The premises, formerly trading as ‘Drumrolls’ occupy one of the finest trading locations in the town being situated between Holland & Barrett and Scrivens and facing onto The Square.

Acting in conjunction with our joint agents Goadsby, Willis Commercial have let the ground floor of the former Miss Selfridge store at 14 Commercial Road, Bournemouth to Pret a Manger.

Willis Commercial have sold the freehold interest in the former Morgan Hampton Estate Agents offices at 3 East Street, Wimborne.

The property was purchased by local entrepreneur Georgie Boyd who has fulfilled her ambition to open a high quality wine and food venue in her home town,

Having acquired the property, Georgie moved to secure the requisite planning and licencing consents as well as undertaking a comprehensive refurbishments of the two storey building to create a special environment in which to relax and enjoy some fine produce.

Acting on behalf of a local investor, Willis Commercial are pleased to have assisted in the acquisition of 1 Bellevue Road in Southampton City Centre.

Costa Relocate in Boscombe

Via an off market transaction, Willis Commercial have let prime retail premises at 627 Christchurch Road, Boscombe to Costa Franchisee The Bournemouth Coffee Company Limited.

The company, which was approaching the end of its lease at the Sovereign Centre, contacted Willis Commercial to see if suitable alternative premises could be secured in the prime pedestrianised precinct.

Acting on behalf of the landlords of 627 Christchurch Road a deal was then worked through with the existing tenants relocating locally thus enabling Costa to secure larger and better configured premises whilst also benefitting from lower overheads.

The new premises offer over 2,200 sq ft of ground floor sales having dual entrances together with some 900+ sq ft of ancillary space at first floor level.

Following completion of a programme of landlord’s enabling works the tenant took a new FR & I lease for a term of 15 years with tenant’s break option after 10 years.

Trio of Lettings at Walford Mill Studios

Via new instructions we were asked to assist the owners of Walford Mill Studios in Wimborne to secure suitable tenants for three office suites which became available in close succession as businesses relocated.

We quickly jumped to and are pleased to announce the letting of the ground floor suite to specialist financial advisors The Minster Partnership as part of the firm’s continued expansion.

Part of the first floor we have let to Reeves Roofing who wished to relocate into the town.

Finally we assisted chartered accountants Frost & Co in their wish to retain presence in Wimborne as the company’s main office relocates to Poundbury, Dorchester as part of a strategic review. The company took a lease over the second floor south suite.

Acting on behalf of LPA Receivers, Willis Commercial have sold the freehold interest in The Dog & Gun public house at Netheravon.

The premises which are situated on the edge of Salisbury Plain, comprise a detached property together with large car park, beer garden and outbuilding occupying a site of approximately 0.266 acres (0.107ha)

Acting on behalf of Altamira Gallery Ltd Willis Commercial have negotiated an acquisition of a quality retail unit at 16 Westover Road in Bournemouth.

Altamira is a small independent retailer specialising in art deco, modern art and jewellery. The business has been established for many years and the new Westover Road shop is the company’s second branch in the town. New Photographer’s Studio opens in Wimborne

Willis Commercial are delighted to have assisted former naval officer Russell Long of 4ever Long Studios in his search for suitable premises in which to open his specialist weddding and studio photographer’s in Wimborne.

In an off market deal, Willis Commercial were able to identify a forthcoming oppoprtunity for Russell to acquire a two storey shop premises in the heart of the town at 20 Eastbrook Row and negotiated the terms of his acquisition of a new lease of the premises.

Born in Wimborne, Russell left school at 17 joining the Royal Navy. After completing his basic training, he was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and spent the following 13 years travelling the world. He has always been a keen photographer and his abilities were perfected whilst visiting many interesting places from piracy in the Caribbean to helping some of the poorest people in Sierra Leone. He was involved in the Libya conflict in 2010.

The Navy allowed him to polish his skills, his position on board ship being Captain’s official photographer. His work had him attending many important functions and state visits and his photographs hang on the wall of Embassies around the world.

After 15 years serving his country Russell decided to follow his dream of being a professional photographer and we are pleased to have assisted him in this endeavour and wish him every success with his new business.

Willis Commercial have sold the freehold interest in character town centre premises at 13A Ducking Stool Lane, Christchurch.

Formerly trading as The Ducking Stool Restaurant the premises comprise some 1,889 sq ft (175 sq m) arranged over ground and first floors.

The property attracted strong interest and sold for a figure in excess of the £275,000 asking price.

Wimborne – Freehold Showroom Deal

Willis Commercial were delighted to be entrusted with the task of arranging a sale of 61-3 Leigh Road, Wimborne which had remained in the ownership of bespoke furniture retailers Brights of Nettlebed for the last 30 years.

7 Bone Arrive in Bournemouth via BBC 2!

What started out as a call from a television production company asking us to assist with a location suitable for their production ‘The Restaurant Manresulted in Bournemouth enjoying the arrival of gourmet burger brand 7Bone.

The premise of the programme is that renowned London based restaurateur Russell Norman mentors entrepreneurial would be restaurateurs in assisting them to secure suitable premises and guiding them through the whole process of starting their businesses.

7Bone had opened a very successful outlet in Southampton and , ostensibly for televisual purposes only, the production company sought a venue of some character in Bournemouth town centre where the boys might consider opening a second branch.

Willis Commercial duly obliged introducing premises at 9-11 Gervis Place which had been occupied by Jones Bootmakers for around 100 years !

Patrick Willis commented ‘ During the course of filming, as the premises seemed to be a good fit with the 7Bone style of operation,  I was able to plant the idea of the company taking space for a second outlet. However the premises in their existing configuration were too large for them. The premises needed to occupy a strong location, have unique character and be affordable to the burgeoning business. 

We were able to show them our client’s property in Gervis Place, Bournemouth which had been occupied by Jones Bootmakers for c 100 years and, whilst the exercise was principally for tele-visual purposes, both the boys and Russell Norman were very taken with the possibilities offered by the premises. We have been in dialogue since so watch this space!
